FDOM 19

I started a photography/media business around 2 years ago. The primary way I was able to reach an audience was through various hashtags and consistent posts on Instagram. I’ve used Instagram since I was in high school so I’ve already had a general understanding of how to use it effectively. While I don’t have a giant following, it’s allowed me to connect with various photographer and musicians around the world. At many times it felt redundant just because I already had a concept and general understanding of how it works.

For example, when I post a film photo on Instagram I use various hashtags that have or will tag various accounts that are likely to repost my work. A few days after I post, I will go back and look at Instagram analytics to see which hashtags gained to most interaction and engagement came from. I will then switch it up for each post.

Overall, I feel that social media platforms like Instagram and Youtube can serve as blogs. I was really into Tumblr in high school, which is actually how I gained my interest in photography. I would follow any blog that was catered to the specific content.

My favorite tool was learning HTML. Coding has been a topic I’ve been interested in but never fully dove into. I think going more in-depth with this topic would spark a creative side I have yet to tap into.

My most popular post was the previous one. I got 6 likes on WordPress, something I didn’t know you could do. But it helps get my creative content seen by an audience I had reached before. Using the FDOM and TXST hashtags helped my social post get seen. I don’t have any followers on Twitter so regardless if they clicked the post, I got my content on peoples timeline.
